Asian Inspired Carriers include several types of carriers that are
still used in many Asian countries. The Asian styles include the Mei
Tai, Hmong, Podaegi and Onbuhimos. These carriers all consits of
rectangular pieces of fabric with shoulder straps. The modern
adaptations of the traditional styles often incorparate longer straps
and shoulder padding for comfort.
Asian styled carriers are easy
to use and can typically be worn on front or back. The Mei Tai is the
most popular Asian style and it has waist straps in addition to
shoulder straps. The Onbuhimo has rings at the waist and the
Podaegi/Hmong only has long straps which are tied over the shoulders
and the around the waist.
